A proud history: about UA Local 628

UA Local 628 has a long, proud history of helping to build the residential, commercial and industrial infrastructure of Northwestern Ontario. We take pride in our skills and our work ethic. We are dedicated to providing safe and efficient labour for a wide range of projects that need the specialized skills and experience of our tradespeople.

The United Association (UA) of Journeyman and Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipefitting of the United States and Canada was founded in 1889.

Thunder Bay Local 628 was chartered on March 1, 1941.

Over the years, the members of the Thunder Bay local have earned a strong reputation that extends far beyond their own geographic territory. They are known for being some of the best trained, most skilled and hardest working tradesmen in the country. The UA Local 628’s dedication to training and continuous skills improvement makes our members attractive prospects for major welding, plumbing and pipefitting projects across Canada.
