Starting January 10/11, we will be having a Pipe Layout Course. January 24/11, we will be having another Foremans Course. Also coming up will be a Blueprint Reading Course, and a Steamfitting Course.
The Pipe Layout Course will have some theory and calculations to be done in the classroom, with some shoptime for practical work. This Course, and the Foremans Course will be 40 hours in length, and will run Monday to Friday 8AM-4:30PM.
The Blueprint Course will start sometime in late Feb. depending on Instructor availability, and will run two evenings a week for approx. four weeks. The start date will be confirmed with the instructor and will be announced at a later date.
The Steamfitter Course is presently in the development stage with us and an Instructor from the Confederation College Stationary Engineereing Program. Some of the topics will include, Boiler Terminology, Boiler types, design and construction, Boiler draft controls, Boiler auxillaries, Valves and Fittings, Steam Equipment, Combustion, Thermodynamics, and BTU Calculations. This course will be 2 nights per week, 3 hours per night for 3-4 weeks for part 1, and 3-4 weeks for a part 2. Anticipated start date will be announced approx. mid to late Feb./11. This course will be helpful for any Plumber Journeyman that would like to write the Steamfitter Exam, or any Apprentice that would like a refresher course before writing the C of Q exam. It would also be open to any Journeyman for a refresher, or general interest course.
