Message to Employers

UA Local 628 understands that employers benefit the most when they have an efficient labour force behind them. We understand that when work sites are run safely and efficiently, employers are able to finish contracts more quickly and more cost-effectively. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality workmanship for our employers.

We also understand that the construction industry has peaks and valleys. One of the benefits to hiring union workers is that we are here when you need us. We don’t draw wages unless we’re working. Our Local’s reputation comes from our hard work and our dedication to continuous skill improvement. We take pride in being the best and in looking out for one another. These qualities help create work environments that are conducive to safety and efficiency.

Our journeymen have years of experience behind them on a wide variety of projects. They are the most sought after in the country and have worked on major projects across Ontario and Canada.

The Local 628’s success comes from our solid partnership with our contractors. We negotiate fair agreements that provide fair wages and safe working conditions. This healthy relationship ensures that our employers receive the best that our members have to offer every time. It is our goal to provide you with an experience that makes you want to do business with our Local again and again in the future.

UA Local 628 is proud to have been a part of the Thunder Bay construction sector for over 65 years.

If you would like to employ our journeymen, you must be a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Ontario (MCAO). For more information contact or visit:
