Welcome to Local UA 628

Our UA Local 628 members have worked on a wide variety of residential, commercial and industrial projects. Our skilled tradesmen are known around the region for providing reliable, professional service in all areas of the piping trades. We have worked on a long list of small and large scale construction projects such as new homes, commercial buildings, institutional facilities, right up to pulp and paper mills, electricity production and mining facilities, and pipelines. Our tradesman are proud to have been a part of these projects and will gladly maintain these facilities after construction.

History of the UA

UA Local 628 has a long, proud history of helping to build the residential, commercial and industrial infrastructure of Northwestern Ontario. We take pride in our skills and our work ethic. We are dedicated to providing safe and efficient labour for a wide range of projects that need the specialized skills and experience of our tradespeople.

The United Association (UA) of Journeyman and Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipefitting of the United States and Canada was founded in 1889. Thunder Bay Local 628 was chartered on March 1, 1941.

Over the years, we of the Thunder Bay local have earned a strong reputation that extends far beyond our own geographic territory. We are known for being some of the best trained, most skilled and hardest working tradesmen in the country. Our UA Local 628’s dedication to training and continuous skills improvement makes our members attractive prospects for major welding, plumbing and pipefitting projects across Canada.
